Master Windu dropped his forehead to his steepled fingers, as if he was fighting a headache.

Master Yoda sighed, his ears drooping, and closed his eyes sadly.

Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi wished, just for a moment, that the floor of the council chamber would open up and swallow him. (Or maybe swallow Master Qui-Gon, since it was all his fault -- but Obi-Wan ruthlessly suppressed the thought.)

Master Yoda broke the silence at last. "Learned, have you the importance of obeying orders?"

Obi-Wan knew that smile. It meant that Qui-Gon was about to tell an utterly shameless lie. "Of course, Masters."

Bwahahaha. This seems totally plausible and in-character for Qui-Gon. Always bucking the system, right to the end.
